machine punk
whoever says NYC nightlife is the bomb is either lying or is easily amused. most parties are just empty hype, heavy PR sending clueless people to follow any new buzzword.
.
good thing is: I’m working with Machine Punk, one of the best parties around here. experimental music, wasted scantily clad women, all the decadénce my brazilian spirit needs to survive and is so difficult to find in this corporate-police-state amerika.
.
The idea is to renovate the entire Black Van Records website, but for now we just put our head above the waters promoting the latest party, next thursday at Elements.
.
take a look, subscribe for the podcast (yummy!), etc. etc.

me and my sister bought her an ibook, so I spent the day teaching her how to use safari, iphoto, del.icio.us, flickr and a wiki for her academic group in brazil.

j3tlag is up!
j3tlag.com, a project we’ve been brewing on for a while, is up and running. the design is sleek, and the marketing campaign is neat. it’s a site for heavy travellers, to share stories, etc.
.
there’s a lot of cool partners and contributors involved (like, tumi, cool hunting and flavorpill, among others) so hopefully it’s a nice cluster to start.
.
now I’m convincing my friends around the world (hellooo!) to share their travel insights there.

men at work
no, I’m not working that much that I have no time for my blog… but when I have free time, I want to do other things.
.
I’ve been trying to finish the version 3 of my electromix podcast (version one and two here), but my apps went kaput on me (it spins endlessly but doesn’t spit the resulting file) and using terminal to make chapter tools hurts my GUI sensibilities.
.
nevertheless, I have a lot of good work done at the company I’m working, like:
- does this look infected? for mtvU
- VMA’s diddy invite for mtv
- agents report, our newsletter (you can subscribe from here)
- parco’s watching for courttv
- the new agency website (due this week) and another nice project (soon to be revealed)
.
I’m buying magazines and books galore, tho. My idea is to take a pic of all my findings and list what I think about each dead tree media, but all the glossy mags shine back and gimme crappy pics.
.
also, learning (or trying to) actionscript, finally. Because flash is now my main media (till now it was html+CSS), I can afford to focus on it’s programming.

done projects (or close to)
Global Peace Film Festival - neat website for the event. next step: backend for the program film calendar (probably in wordpress)
- The Bubbly - website update: subscription, redirection, plus cool features like: events calendar (for ipod, she already provides the content), and google maps directions
- The Halos - music and movie site, plus vlog. she’s working with brazilian native indians, geez
- Overlap Radio - incomplete, my idea of podcasts: each category, one music style (so you can be choosy and subscribe only to the ones you like). right now, assigning editors for each category (because after all this podcast craze, the one that will remain are the one with good filters)
.
sometimes, being a freelancer can be frustrating: because you don’t know how to measure your progress, you get anxious and never relax.
.
but today I’ll take the day out, and trade all my pending jobs for a beach.

zona visser
and the project that saved my christmas is zona visser, a website for a 50’s-60’s singer to be done before xmas eve (it was a gift for her by her daughter).
.
the website structure was already done, all I had to do was the details. and the content. but better!
.
in this project, i finally tested blogbox, a music player flash application that you customize from a xml file. the master tapes were burned sometime ago in south africa, so all she had left were the 2 songs you can hear on the website. (try it. the navigation is ipod-like, and the songs are sweet)
