today is my birthday, and I threw a party this Saturday tagging along with an existing party, easier. Below the invitation I sent to friends.

Ok, so feb. 4th is my bday, but I don’t want to deal with the hassle of throwing a party. But that forces me to accept a “surprise” party, and I’m too old (I’m completing 33, in case you don’t know) to deal with it, too.

Conveniently, Nick (2), Greg and Connor are throwing a party this Saturday, so I decided to assimilate it to my goals. It’s nice and cool people (you know, not all nice is cool, and not all cool is nice, so it’s rare to find both together), it’s really good music, and most of all, it’s an excuse to get wasted (it’s even tax-deductible, I’ve heard on the Internets).

So, you know the date and the excuse. The party probably starts 11PM (we can always refine the data by phone later), and it’s on –text redacted– in Brooklyn.

i missed one of my tarot cards. working with less than the 22 cards is not only bad mojo but unpractical. the deck keeps bleeping you with warnings, that at first you think it’s about the situation you asked, and then you recognize it’s a malfunction.

i’m very chaotic myself, and i interpret the card wants to get some fresh air, so i must not use the tarot for a while.

this time, the card i lost was the hanged man. sacrifices. the inversed. if sometimes you have to go backwards first to move forward, this card is the backward stuff. reversal of ethics, distrust in stablished institutions, karma. paying the price for the others. humiliation and burning of material things.

so, i’m using a “joker” card, a spare one, introductory to the tarot. and everytime i face this imageless card, i picture the hanged man in front of me. or try to.

i dreamed i was in a party with my rio friends, but they didn’t let me get in… humiliating me, even more because the host was a friend i helped a lot, and for free. i was feeling confused and betrayed.

then, someone told me they wanted me to get into the mood of the hanged man, so i could be used to model it. it was a trap. damn inner me, they wanted to correct a flaw wiring me to the engines!

Well, it seems clear to me…

After the creation of Airport Express, he will announce a new ipod with wi-fi transmission.
.
It means the ipod will turn out to be the perfect remote control for your sound (it’s already tiny enough), and all you’ll need to create a party would be an ipod and an airport express (and a good sound system, and broadband connection, but we assume you already have it).

or: a bluetooth connection, but the airport express don’t receive it yet, and music on bluetooth is *lame*.

Other /neat/ invention would be upgrade the ipod software to allow dj spinning… you pre-hear your selection on the headphone, without interrupting the wi-fi transmission, select the next tune on-the-fly, and scratch it to mix (the controls are circular and responsive!). but time to time, first the wi-fi connection.

nice new party project for apavoramento: free dancefloor on the beach (yeah, it’s summer in brazil). no link yet, coz *I* have to build the site.

my idea is a pop-up ad that grows the site when clicked on, so the exact server location is irrelevant (2 different sites will advertise the event, and a common pop-up is a middle ground)
